way of clothing = sexual assualt?

There are people who believe that the way women dress is related to instances of sexual assault on them. Proportion of people belonging to this group of thought is much more outside the debating circles. They say women wearing ‘provocative clothing’ are
inviting’ and ‘encouraging’ such assaults. They say every human has basic instincts and such ‘indecent dresses’ provoke 'excessive passion' in them and lead to committing such savage and brutal acts.

If that is the case:
The thief is not at fault because the banker was openly counting the cash thus ‘provoking’ him to steal the money,
The ivory poachers aren’t to be blamed because they were ‘incited’ by the elephant that passed by showing off it’s tusks,
Harshad Mehta is (and all such accused are) innocent because he was ‘encouraged’ to cheat by the dumbness & inefficiency of the regulating agencies.

Let’s change the laws now shall we. And bring them in line with such caveman reasoning. I'm not getting into the debate here but what I want is for people to look through such arguments and realize the stupidity in them. There's no getting around the plain fact - the person who sexual assaults a victim is solely responsible for his/her actions. The victim is just that - a victim.

(This is a taboo subject and I tried to put my thoughts as nearly as possible into words. Still, my attempt here is a very crude way of getting the point across.)

  4. I'd like to disagree with you
It's about choices that women take with respect to our body and clothes
For instance when I'm scantily clad and going for a party the people of Telangana have accustomed to the fact that they can stare at the girl
Most of them think it's okay
But in places like Goa there is no one of that sort due to the influence of foreign culture
I think it's due to geographical conditions that cause this
Anyways a well written article !
