Adam - so far

I'll restrict my love affair with the Adam to another post. in this one, I'll write an objective review (if that's possible)
The delivery process - no complaints. the device arrived promptly. communication was proper too

The unboxing - had to strap an iPhone to my head using a
cap (wear the cap in reverse 'n slotted the phone in the gap). obviously i couldn't see what was being recorded but the video turned out to be pretty good. but there's a lot of background noise. can't help it

The hardware - no issues here too. no dead pixels, no buzzing sound, all usb ports working, speakers good. got to check out the HDMI output, microSD slot, 3G sim

The software - the stock build (20060611) had quiet a few irritants (worst of all - wifi) but i updated to the 20080611 and most of the bugs are taken care off.
ones that still persist -->> can't kill the chords process, after i kill all the process (except Chords) and work for a while and check the processes, Chords and Mail'D are running(with 060611 it used to be several extra processes too). and then there's the problem when bringing Adam out of idle mode. i'll post the video (it's afterall, worth a thousand words)

The battery: 40 to 0 in 30 seconds!! - i was quiet surprised when after MANY hours of use, there was still 40% of battery left. but no sooner than a few seconds later, Adam shut down. turns out it was a wrong indication of the battery level. but seems like one-time problem. on the whole, battery life definitely isn't what they said it would be

The WiFi - works fine but shows such a weak signal strength that if you didn't know better, you might guess that it's the neighbors modem that is connected

The GPS & maps - not working

The screen - Awesome. Great viewing angles. i actually kept the brightness @ zero and it still looks great!! good viewing angles too. only irritant is when reading in the portrait mode, the entire screen isn't the same shade

The UI - needs some getting used to but love it already

The camera - everything that you'd expect it to be:)) but there's a flaw -->> if you're using a video chat app, you won't be talking to the camera. instead it'll be like a side shot of your face

The speakers - surprisingly loud!!

That's it i guess for this post

UPDATE: the issues while bringing Adam out of idle mode is gone! don't know what exactly did it but many problems just seem to iron out by themselves!!
